Hospitality designed to refresh missionaries and their families

Nearly 50% of cross-cultural missionaries quit within their first 4-year term

Physical Exhaustion

Workers often struggle with "perpetual responder" syndrome, feeling unable to step away from urgent local needs, navigate intense cultural adaptation, or find safe, quiet spaces for Sabbath and rest.

Isolation

Interpersonal conflict with field peers and lack of relational support systems consistently rank as top reasons missionaries leave.

Burnout

Over a 10-year period, agencies without robust proactive member care and psychological debriefing retain only 38% to 52% of their long-term workers, whereas agencies with high-support structures retain up to 78%.

We want to provide a place of rest and safety.

Meet Jonathan and Elisa Trentham

We fell in love over a decade ago listening to Benny Goodman and sharing our stories of international travel and our heart for cross-cultural workers.

In 2022, we began praying for Spain daily - for the country, the people, those working there. We began online tutoring with professors in Spain. We researched visa options, continued training in hospitality and culinary, and prayed about how to help our kids adapt to a new culture and language. We shared with close friends and family. And we kept a record of all the ways God was confirming this direction for our lives.

  • Jono's tutor is actually a professor of hospitality and tourism and has friends in different legal areas who could help us out.

  • Miraculous favor at the Spanish Consulate in Houston, where I gained Spanish citizenship despite showing up without one of the key documents I needed, after 2 years of research and prep.

  • A remote job that I love that can support our family now and in Spain.

  • And so many more….

We have a heart to offer excellent hospitality and care for cross-cultural workers, and we desire to provide a place of rest and refreshment to prevent burnout and support healthy marriages, families, and work.

Now, we are preparing for an international move with our three kids in the summer of 2027.

Short, restful time away effectively prevents burnout
