Hospitality designed to refresh missionaries and their families

Nearly 50% of cross-cultural missionaries quit within their first 4-year term

Physical Exhaustion

Workers often struggle with "perpetual responder" syndrome, feeling unable to step away from urgent local needs, navigate intense cultural adaptation, or find safe, quiet spaces for Sabbath and rest.

Isolation

Interpersonal conflict with field peers and lack of relational support systems consistently rank as top reasons missionaries leave.

Burnout

Over a 10-year period, agencies without robust proactive member care and psychological debriefing retain only 38% to 52% of their long-term workers, whereas agencies with high-support structures retain up to 78%.

We want to provide a place of rest and safety for cross-cultural workers.

  • Facility: We want to find or build a retreat center with quality rooms and amenities for individuals, families, or groups of 20-50 people. Includes group meeting spaces, a restaurant serving expertly prepared local and international dishes, a luxury spa, pools, and childcare on-site.

  • Location: a peaceful mountain village with sea views near Alicante, Spain, full of beauty, nature, privacy, and freedom to explore

  • Experience: Warm, comfortable luxury hospitality, where guests receive extra-mile service with honor and care

Why Spain?

  • Access to the 10/40 window for missionaries in the highest conflict areas

  • International airport to 120 destinations

  • Lower cost of living than most US cities

  • Elisa and Jonathan’s personal connections and family there

Meet Jonathan and Elisa Trentham

We share a love for hospitality, missions, and creating space for others to feel seen, known, and loved.

In 2022, we felt a burden from the Lord to begin praying for Spain and preparing to move there. We shared with close friends and family, researched visa options, and we prayed about how to help our kids adapt to a new culture and language.

Here are a few ways God made special connections for us:

  • Jonathan’s Spanish tutor in Spain is actually a professor of hospitality and tourism.

  • Elisa experienced miraculous favor at the Spanish Consulate in Houston, where she gained Spanish citizenship.

  • Elisa was offered a remote job she loves that can support her family now and in Spain.

  • And so many more….

Now, we are preparing for an international move with our three kids in the summer of 2027.
